This spring a versatile and elegiac ensemble BRAZZAVILLE will play in St. Petersburg! It’s not just a regularly concert: the business relationship between Russia and the sextet from California has already turned into a deep love.
With help of two well-known critics, Artemy Troitsky and Maksim Semelyak, the band’s CDs are instantly sold out in Russia, while the band, in return, presents very touching gifts to the audience like a cover-version of “Zvezda po imeni Solntse” and the main song of the album “Welcome to… BRAZZAVILLE” – “Night Rain on Moscow”.
This time the successful ensemble from Los Angeles will present their new album “BRAZZAVILLE In Istanbul”. Recorded with the best Turkish musicians, it received exceptional reviews and instantly landed itself in the Top 20 of the European World Music Chart.. On the brand new CD all the best of BRAZZAVILLE can be found: the beautiful quiet songs with gentle exotics of the Brazilian bossa novas, the deep Mediterranean tunes, and the reserved melancholy of American blues. The rich and spicy melodies, where we recognize ethnic tunes along with elegant rock’n’roll, besot as gently as a good wine. Even the savviest listeners are charmed with BRAZZAVILLE’s ability to melange the guitar, melancholic piano, accordion, brass of all sorts and a bass, ‘jazzy’ Hammond, exotic percussion and, of course, the magical husky voice of David Brown in a colourful music mix.
BRAZZAVILLE’s exquisite electronic features and the grief about something that cannot come true brought them the title of the kings of romantic rock.. Brazzaville are obsessed with the naive idea of the world being a beautiful place, impossible to explore to the end. Maybe, that is why their music is like a traveller’s journal, which David Brown fills with new impressions each year.
