Page 1 of 2 On the 7th of June PJ Harvey- eccentric, unpredictable and astonishing rock-diva appeared in Music Hall. As a support she brought with her the Autolux Californian noise trio, which had already played with Nine Inch Nails and Secret Machines. The Queen of alternative came to Russia with the music from her last album “White Chalk”, which came out in September, 2007. Wonderful and differ from what PJ has done before, “The White Chalk” deserved the rave reviews in press. Low-key and gloomy ballads are recorded on the ground of the piano parts, which PJ played by her-self. Polly Jean confides that while working on the album, she understood that it was the best moment for her to make a solo performance.
On the Music Hall stage the singer, wearing a lacy puffy dress, was first playing the outlandish psaltery, as if coming from the Russian folktale, then was sitting at the piano, and the other moment was taking the electric guitar in her hands. The petrified audience was listening to her beautiful voice, which contained the sounds of the desperateness of the foretime and the peace, acquired with years. The concert turned out into a sort of a chamber one, and St. Petersburg was fascinated and charmed by the sincerity and dynamism of the performance of this legendary woman, all alone conjuring for a capacity crowd.
